This is the Story of Vasiliki, the Founder of Asimico.

I come from a home where creativity wasn’t just encouraged—it was woven into the very fabric of our daily lives. My mother always had a craft room, a little sanctuary filled with yarns, needles, threads, and beads.
This was her coffee shop, her refuge, and her source of joy. She’d spend hours knitting, sewing, and crafting, creating with her hands what her mind envisioned. I was always there, watching, learning, and eventually carving out my own little corner in that space. It became a place where I didn’t have to worry about following rules or staying within lines—my creativity was allowed to roam freely. That room became more than just four walls. It was a haven, a place where my hands could build and experiment, where each mistake was simply the start of something new. Little did I know then that this room would become the cornerstone of my journey.
What began as a hobby became a form of expression.
Over time, my passion for jewelry making blossomed. What began as a hobby soon became more than just stringing beads or bending wires. It became a form of expression, a way to bring out pieces of myself into the world. Every necklace, every bracelet felt like an extension of the freedom I had known in that craft room as a child. But something in me shifted when I realized I could take this passion and turn it into something more.
That’s when the idea of launching a business sparked to life. It wasn’t just about creating; it was about sharing that creation with the world. I set up my first workshop and started small, creating custom jewelry for boutiques and small businesses on the island of Santorini during the summer season. The sun-kissed beaches and the waves lapping at the shore inspired my work, each piece reflecting the beauty and serenity of the island. I built a small but loyal customer base, selling my designs online and at local markets. It was a wonderful chapter of my life—one filled with discovery, experimentation, and joy.
Craftsmanship is passed down from one generation to the next.

From Santorini’s Sun to Zurich’s crisp Air
The transition was harder than I had anticipated. Zurich felt like a world away from the sun-drenched markets of Santorini.
The pace was different, the trends unfamiliar. It took me nearly three years to adjust, to find my footing in this new place and understand the nuances of Swiss trends and culture. I felt lost at times, disconnected from the creative pulse that had always guided me.
Slowly but surely, though, things began to change. I found my rhythm again. I set up a new workspace, one that felt like my own creative cocoon, and I started creating again. Piece by piece, I rebuilt my business, selling at local markets, online, and through a growing network of friends and supporters. Zurich had its own magic, and I began to see how my work could reflect this new environment. That’s how Asimico was born.
The name Asimico comes from the Greek word “Asimono,” a tradition where, when a baby is born, the family gifts something golden—often a lucky charm—to welcome the child into the world, symbolizing a life filled with prosperity and good fortune. This deeply resonated with me, as my jewellery pieces are more than just accessories. They are symbols of connection, tradition, and the magic of new beginnings.
But of all the milestones in my journey, the most empowering and fulfilling moments have come not from business success or recognition but from the times I’ve spent sharing this world of creativity with my daughter. Watching her eyes light up as she discovers her own love for making, for crafting, has been a source of immense joy. We’ve shared the triumphs and the stumbles, the long hours of preparation, the quiet moments of concentration, and the bursts of laughter when something unexpectedly delightful emerged. Those moments are when I’ve felt most empowered, most fulfilled.
Knowing that the magic I experienced in my mother’s craft room has been passed down to my daughter—that’s where my philosophy lies. It’s about nurturing creativity, about finding beauty in the process, and about sharing that spark with others.
From Santorini’s sun to Zurich’s crisp air, from my mother’s craft room to my own workspace, this journey is a celebration of creativity, connection, and the joy of crafting something beautiful, together.
